The MK809 III Android TV stick is a small device that you can plug into a TV to run Android apps on the big screen. It’s one of the first models to feature a Rockchip RK3188 quad-core processor, (although there are a growing number of devices with that chip on the horizon).

W2Comp is now taking pre-orders for the MK809 III for $89, and expects to begin shipping units to customers in early May.

MK809 III

The MK809 III runs Google Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and features 2GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, and ARM Mali-400 graphics.

It has 802.11b/g/n WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0, and has a microSD card slot, 2 microUSB ports, and a full-sized USB port. There’s an HDMI connector at one end which you can plug right into a TV or monitor.

You can plug in a keyboard or mouse and use the MK809 III like an Android-powered computer. Or you can connect a wireless mouse, game controller, or other peripherals to control the device from your couch while you play games, surf the web, or watch videos.

  1. “early May”

could bloggers/website owners PLEASE, date and time stamp pages. is this may this year last year or 1897?

    1. The date is at the bottom of the article where it says posted on Monday, April 15th, 2013 at 11:23am. The URL for this page also gives you the year and month.

  2. Купил на droid-box.ru такой же, пришло за 6 дней. Супер устройство!

  3. Regarding: “All those RK3188 are exactly the same board with different case”. If you don’t count differences in used chipsets, and number of usb ports, that statement is completely true. However, most people do count those differences.

Also, as far as I understand, RK3188 is an A9 28nm chip while A31 is an A7 40nm chip. A7 means slightly lower performance. 28nm means slightly more efficient manufacturing process.

IMHO, I think the A7 probably does more for less power consumption than what the 28nm manufacturing process does. Time will tell.

The odroid design tells us something about what kind of cooling is needed to run full performance. Quite incompatible with “stick format” =(

  4. All those RK3188 are exactly same board with different case. I still had the board today in my hand. It was delayed because they are not stable yet. This is why all of them are “pre-order”

    1. rk3188 is not good for hdmi stick cause the voltage and it became very hot. you can have rk3188 only in case like the new minix x7. (very old modem dedign). rk3188 experimental sticks have may reboots and wifi is inexistent.

instead Alwinner A31 wih 4 core cortex a7 (less voltage) is good for hdmi sticks.

      1. This is wrong too… first Quadcore stick I had in my hand was an AllWinner A31 (I posted in this website too in begining of this month). This product still not available because overheats too. Even some are thinking about replace A31 to A31s. Tomorrow I’ll have 2 or 3 A31 samples, I’ll see if they fixed this problem.
