iPega gaming tablet coming in May

Hong Kong company iPega is best known (if it’s known at  all) for making accessories like docks and cases for smartphones and tablets. But iPega is starting to show off an upcoming Android tablet designed for playing video games.

Charbax from ARMDevices got an early look at the upcoming tablet.

Details are a bit scarce at the moment, but the tablet is expected to have a quad-core processor, HDMI output, a USB port, WiFi, and a headphone jack. There may be models with and without cameras.

What makes the tablet stand out are the the gamepads on either side of the touchscreen display, including a d-pad, analog sticks, and 4 game buttons, as well as 4 shoulder buttons. The design looks like it’d be pretty great for playing classic Nintendo or PlayStation games in an emulator.

The tablet’s expected to be available in May.

This is hardly the only Android tablet designed for gaming. The Wikipad 7, Archos GamePad, JXD S7300, and IbenX GamePad are a few others that spring to mind.
