Inhon Carbon Tablet looks like a laptop… without a keyboard

Inhon is showing off a new Windows 8 tablet which has a built-in base that makes it look like a laptop. But there’s no built-in keyboard. You’ll need to connect an external keyboard if you want to get some typing done.

Instead, when you unfold the base of the Inhon Carbon Tablet, the computer will crank up the clock speed of the Intel Core i3, Core i5, or Core i7 processor to give you a performance boost.

Opening the base gives the tablet more surface area, which helps keep the machine cool while the CPU is running at top speeds. And it also gives you a way to prop up the tablet for use on a desk or table.

But I’m still not really sure why the company didn’t bother to just throw a keyboard on the base. It works for the Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga line of tablets, which have a similar design, but with buil-in keyboards.

Engadget reports that the Inhon Carbon Tablet is expected to sell for around $1000 and up in Taiwan.
