Want to get your hands on a phone running Firefox OS, but don’t live in Portugal, Spain, Poland, Brazil, or Venezuala? No problem.

Engadget reports Spanish company Geeksphone expects to start selling the first Firefox OS developer phones next week, and customers can have the phones shipped anywhere in the world.

Firefox OS is Mozilla’s operating system based around web apps. The user interface, core apps, and third-party apps are all basically web apps designed for a phone-sized device. They’re written using HTML5 and similar technologies.

That doesn’t necessarily mean a Firefox OS device is useless if you don’t have an internet connection. You can download apps and data for use offline, but by focusing on open web standards, Mozilla hopes to make the platform as open as possible to developers.

Geeksphone will offer two developer phones. The first is the low-end Keon which will sell for about 91 Euros plus taxes ($119 US) and which features a 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S1 processor, a 3.5 inch, 480 x 320 pixel display, 512MB of RAM, and 4GB of storage.

The second is a slightly higher-end model called the Peak, which has a 4.3 inch, 960 x 540 pixel screen, a 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 dual-core CPU, and 512MB of memory. It will sell for 149 Euros, or about $194 US.
