Samsung recently introduced a new 5 inch smartphone and 8 inch Galaxy Note tablet. But it looks like the tablet may also be getting ready to refresh its 7 and 10 inch Android tablets.

Last month benchmark results started showing up for devices with model numbers suggesting they could be Galaxy Tab 3 tablets. Now we’re starting to see DLNA certification for tablets with the same model numbers.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3?

The folks at Notebook Italia spotted a few listings for tablets which could turn out to be the Galaxy Tab 3 (7.0), Galaxy Tab 3 (10.1), and Galaxy Tab 3 Plus.

There appear to be WiFi-only, 3G, and 4G models of each, and the model numbers are similar to those Samsung currently uses for its Galaxy Tab 2 tablets.

Unfortunately, that’s about all we know about the devices at this point. There’s no official word on what kind of processors, screen resolutions, or other specs they’ll have.

If I had to guess, I’d say they’ll probably feature faster chips than the TI OMAP 4 dual-core processors Samsung used in its Galaxy Tab 2 tablets. But I wouldn’t hold my breath hoping for bleeding edge technology in these new tablets — Samsung seems to be saving the best for its Galaxy Note tablets.

In the past year or so, Samsung seems to have decided that the Galaxy Tab line will cover the company’s budget tablets. In fact, you can pick up a new Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) for as little as $180, and refurbished models go for as low as $127.

  1. I was in a Samsung store in Seoul about a week ago and the employee told me the company was coming out with a 8.9 tablet with updated hardware in two months time. Actually, he heard it was the same screen, 1080 by 1920, and the same processor as in the galaxy s4. He also said it could be a galaxy note with the spen. Only time will tell, but a 1080p screen plus the Exynos octa core processor in a 8.9 package would sizzle!

  2. If they continue to release 10″ tablets with ridiculous 1280×800 resolution (Hello? Note 2!) I will laugh my *ss off.

    1. The galaxy tab 3 has a resolution of 2600×1600, something a way higher than that of Ipad 4 or perhaps even Ipad 5. If you don’t believe me, just google for it.

      1. You mean Galaxy Nexus 10? Or you mean after one whole year Samsung can start produce high resolution tablets compared to Apple?

        1. I mean the Galaxy tab 3 which is set for release in April and the next generation of Samsung devices are being tested with a 350 PPI display, While the next generation of IPAD is anticipated to include a 312 PPI retina display. The bottom line is that Galaxy tab 3 will out-compete the Ipad 5 in terms of display’s resolution.

          1. Yeah right, that includes almost no Tablet apps designed for this resolution, causing blurry and bad looking stretched apps in Samsung Tablet right? Also, ipad 3/4 runs smoothly despite the resolution penalty. We’ll see how laggy it would be in Samsung retinapad.

          2. Who says that? On every Android device you get double of the number of products you might be getting on a licensed one. Just Take a look at the numerous and diverse category of applications present at Google play store, most freeware and unlicensed .Second, you can purchase a Samsung device around a half of price of an Ipad(290 bucks vs 550 bucks).Third even in terms of performance, Samsung and Iphone are not comparable.

Check these links out to find out for yourself:

          3. So you are comparing brand new 2013 phone with last years iPhone 5? What will happen when iPhone 5S is out? Same old same old, galaxy will be beaten in every benchmark again. Problem is, Apple is doing it with half the cpu power than Samsung. Samsung tablets sold at same price level with Apple. Just because they are selling refurbished crappy Samsung Tab 2 (Actually no difference than last year, same resolution, same dualcore, same battery) for cheaper it doesn’t make better than Apple. Its obvious you never used iPad in real life.

          4. It could run on coal, so long as I don’t need to use iTunes to put anything on it. Seriously, I gave Apple a chance, but I want to drag and drop whatever the f^%$ I want, not be locked into a shitty ecosystem that decides what I can and cannot do.

          5. No. I am just saying the next generation of Samsung devices, whether cell phone or a tablet are really a notch above it’s rival. The next generation of Iphone is supposed to be equipped with a 324 ppi Retina display while For galaxy tab 3,(both of which are to be released circa this year’s April) it’s around 460 ppi. At the end I have not compared any refurbished item to a new one. The minimum available price for a 16 GBs Ipad on Amazon is 679 $ whereas Samsung Galaxy tab 2.0 10.1 is available for purchase for only 329$. With the price which you would be paying for a single Ipad you can buy 2 Samsung galaxy tabs plus saving around 20$. Now, the Galaxy tab 3 is supposed to be sold for the same price as Galaxy tab 2. Do you think it worths paying an extra fee of 359 Dollars while you can buy a brand new Galaxy tab 10.1(with a much broader screen and superior hardware) for only 329 Dollars? At the end I am surprised by hearing someone implicating there are not enough applications in the open source world and Samsung android devices suffer from lack of enough adequate Apps.

          6. Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 released at same price of iPad. They recently reduced price because they have to sell their stock of never-selling crappy tablet. Do you honestly believe they will sell retina resolution tablet for 329 usd? Even google is selling it for 399 usd. Samsung will never sell it below 499 usd, which is same price of iPad. If you think buying Galaxy 2 10.1 at 329 usd, look at chinese tablets with superior hardware and full HD / retina resolution screens lower than 250 usd! Its same android anyway!

          7. There are several 1080P IPS panel chinese phones about to be released. There are lots of 720P IPS screens with dualcore (sub $200) and quadcore phones (sub $249 usd) available at chinese online dealers. Also, I’m talking about tablets, not phones. Why you are obsessed with 460 PPI? You think your eye can understand difference between 326 ppi and 460 PPI? 1080P screens only good at sucking your battery life.

          8. This is what I wanted to point out to as well. A quality beyond a specific limit is not observable for the human eye sight, But all I tried to mention was that almost in all aspect Samsung is really better. But I am really trying to buy a device. If you know such a device(a tablet not a cell phone) for only 250 $ please introduce me one

          9. There are several Allwinner A31 and Rockchip RK3188 tablets available at geekbuying dot com, pandawill dot com websites. However, if you live in Europe or United States, prepare to pay some import tax or vat on top of these prices unless you ask them to declare lower value of products 🙂

You can buy Cube Tablet with RK3188 and 1920×1200 IPS screen for 269 usd (pre-order but coming soon) or $209 usd for Allwinner A31 chipset quadcore cpu, Power VR 544MP2 gpu and iPad 3/4 retina screen – Nextway F9X- from geekbuying aswell.

          10. I have a tech companies with a few employees active in software design. What is your expertise? How old are you? Do you like working in a tech company?

          11. Unfortunately I don’t reside in United states or Europe. Thanks for the offer but I have my own job on software / linux servers / system administration.
