The Archos Titanium line of Android tablets feature 1.6 GHz Rockchip RK3066 ARM Cortex-A9 processors, ARM Mali 400 graphics, Android 4.1 software, and reasonably low prices.

Archos unveiled the tablets a few months ago, and now the first models are available in the US for $169 and up.

Archos 97 Titanium

J&R is selling the Archos 80 Titanium tablet for $169 and the Archos 97 Titanium for $249.

The Archos 80 features an 8 inch, 1024 x 768 pixel display while the Archos 97 has a high resolution 9.7 inch, 2048 x 1536 pixel screen.

Aside from the screen size and resolution, the two tablets are pretty much the same. Both feature 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, microSD card slots, 802.11n WiFi, 2MP front cameras and 5MP rear cameras with auto-focus.

The Archos 97 Titanium measures 9.4″ x 7.2″ x 0.35″ and weighs 1.4 pounds, while the 8 inch model measures 7.9″ x 6″ x 0.38″ and weighs just under 1 pound.

Archos is also expected to launch a 7 inch model for $119 and a 10.1 inch Titanium tablet for $199 soon, as well as a line of quad-core tablets under the Archos Platinum name in the coming months.

  1. Where is the Archos fold out post from the 80 G9 series? That was a great feature that made the design very attactive for any user to prop it up on a desk and watch stuff with.

  2. Seems a bit too cheaply made for my taste. Screen resolution seems to be outdated before they even released it (regardless of price).

  3. Does it have Gorilla glass? Archos 80 G9 was missing codecs, made you go buy them from “their” store (what a set up). Cheapskates. And, when we were told Jelly Bean was going to happen as an update/upgrade, they pulled the rug, said no.
JELLY beans’ speed is just what the Archos 80 G9 needed to be worth it, really sorry that Archos does not support their products with updates. So, I’ll pass on ever recommending or buyin another Archos product.

  4. The Android apps for tablets are a joke right now. I went to the Play store to check out what’s available–forget it. Developers seem happy releasing for smaller screens.

    1. But it has a Quad-core GPU Mali 400… So it’ll depend on what you’re running…

  5. 8 inch model measures 7.9″ x 6″ x 0.38″

They should have copied the Apple Mini´s dimensions, more or less like Onda did.

    1. Onda’s V812 is the 80 Platinum. So not even Onda copied Apple until later, with the new V818. (The 80T is from Yuanfeng.)
