Fuhu’s Nabi line of tablets are aimed at kids. They tend to feature rugged case designs, parental controls (so maybe they’re really aimed at parents), and simple user interfaces. But under the hood they run Google Android, which means they can run a pretty wide range of software.
A few months ago Fuhu introduced two new models, a $100 Nabi Jr tablet for kids and a $250 Nabi XD tablet aimed at tweens. Now they’re both available from Best Buy.
The Nabi Jr is a $100 tablet with a 5 inch, 800 x 480 pixel display, an NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual core processor, Android 4.0. and 4GB of storage. The tablet supports WiFi and Bluetooth.
It has a single camera which can rotate to face the front or back of the tablet, and a rugged plastic case which makes the Nabi Jr thicker than most small tablets, but hopefully a bit sturdier. The Nabi Jr measures 0.9 inches thick and weighs about 1.5 pounds.
The tablet ships with Fuhu’s Nabi app store which is loaded with kid-friendly apps rather than the Google Play Store.
At $250, you’d expect the Nabi XD to pack a bit more punch than its little sibling… and you’d be right. This tablet features a 10.1 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display, an NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor, 1GB of RAM, and 16GB of storage.
It runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, has a 5MP rear camera and a 2MP front-facing camera, and supports WiFi and Bluetooth.
Fuhu will also offer an optional case with a built-in silicone keyboard which means you can give your tween a tablet and expect them to get some homework done… or at least some instant messaging.
While this tablet’s a bit more grown-up looking than the Jr, it still has a sturdy aluminum case and parental control software.

I hate your customer support. Your website SUCKS. I emailed your customer support 2 weeks ago and until today no one and replied to me. I bought 2 nabi jr for my twins and sadly they loved it and used it everyday. They broke the charger and now I’m trying to replace it and its like I’m look for the lost city of Atlantis. I have been to best buy Walmart target, your stupid website and can’t find the charger for the nabi jr. I’m sorry I wasted my money purchasing this crap!
Have you since then been able to find a charger? I also can’t find one anywhere!
They sent me a charger for our nabi xd free of charge. I called customer service and was very pleased.
My stepson mother got him one seems to work good for him kinda like a ipad but with Android system. Anyone know were I can get a hard case for the nabi XD.?
bought the nabi xd, was a big disappointment, dont think it was ready for release. took it back to store. wasn’t at all what it should of been. freezes all the time, never responds. few apps to choose from. still want one cause I waited so long for it, but I guess I’ll just wait for improvements to buy another.
Found Nabi Jr and Nabi XD at Walmart. The one’s showing in stick may not have it and those out of stock may have it. It needs it’s time of day software that was promised and might be big for a 5 year. Fast and can read it from the edge of the screen. Still porting my Google android apps. Got a 2 amp car charger plug for USB to USB charger.cord.for $10 to make it mobile.
Call the store before going. Saves time and disappointment. Got the last XD from store I called.
Nabi Cares told me today that the XD was delayed being released due to a software glitch. It should be available in 2-3 weeks where the Nabi 2 was available. Toys R Us will also sell it.
I would happily buy a JR size device if it came in a more adult form. Yes yes, i know about smartphones. But i kinda like having the phone parts in a separate unit as it drains less battery that way.
How about a Galaxy Player 5 then? Pretty close to a Galaxy Note, but without those pesky phone parts.

Had my eyes on it, but it appears stuck on Android 2.3…
