Lenovo will launch new models of its entry-level IdeaPad ultrabooks with touchscreen displays starting in a few months. Both the 13 inch IdeaPad U310 and 14 inch IdeaPad U410 are getting the touchscreen treatment, and both models will be available with Windows 8 in the coming months.
The IdeaPad U310 Touch will launch in March for $779 and up, while the IdeaPad U410 Touch is expected to hit the streets in April for $850 and up.
The ultrabooks will be available with up to an Intel Core i6 Ivy Bridge processor and with optional NVIDIA GeForce graphics on the 14 inch model.
While these aren’t the smallest or lightest ultrabooks around, they do measure just about 0.7 inches thick, support 10-finger multitouch input, and have relatively low starting prices (for ultrabooks).
Aside from the addition of touchscreens, the new ultrabooks look a lot like Lenovo’s current budget ultrabooks, with 1366 x 768 pixel displays, hard disks which work with 24GB solid state disks for extra speed, WiFi, Bluetooth, and a few USB 2.0 and and USB 3.0 ports.
The IdeaPad U310 measures 0.7 inches thick and weighs 3.85 pounds, while the IdeaPad U410 measures 0.8 inches thick and weighs 4.4 pounds.
Brad, I’m just a regular student, but I really like the design that Lenovo has. I was going to get it’s 14 inch IdeaPad U410, but now I feel like I should wait for the touch screen version. I WAS going to get a tablet or ipad but i feel like if the IdeaPad can function kind of like that I wouldn’t need both. So, what do you think? Will it be kind of like Lenovo’s yoga? Also, what are your opinions when comparing the two (the Lenovo IdeaPad vs. it’s yoga 11 or 13?) Any sort of input would be greatly appreciated!
yoga and u410 both are part of Lenovo’s ideapad series… yoga series gets its name by 360degree rotation while u410 is just an ultrabook which can’t do yoga(360 turn).. hope this helps.. if you want i can provide more technical comparison since i’m also planning to buy lenovo u410.
