Kimdecent B12 Android TV stick packs a webcam

Chinese device maker Kimdecent has released yet another Android TV stick with a Rockchip RK3066 dual core processor and Android 4.1 software. It’s got a USB port at one end and an HDMI port at the other.

But in between you’ll find something unusual on the Kimdecent B12 — a 2MP webcam.

That means you can plug this little device into a TV or monitor and run Android apps — including apps that require a camera such as Skype.

Unfortunately, I’m not sure how well this layout will work on most TVs. While some televisions have HDMI ports on their side, which means you could plug in the stick and have the camera facing you while you’re on the couch, plenty of other TVs have HDMI ports tucked away behind the screen where the webcam would be of little to no use.

The Kimdecent B12 features Mali 400 graphics, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, WiFi, Bluetooth, and a microSD card slot for extra storage space.

You can pick up the Kimdecent B12 at AliExpress for $68.

    Hmmm.
Considering that this is designed to plug into the rear of an HDTV I think the only thing you can expect to see on that camera without some special adapters is another addition of “The Dust Bunnies”.
Somehow I don’t mind craziness like this though. These things are kinda fun!.

someone should create some universal dock that can just plugged the hdmi dongle directly. so that it can be postioned accordingly.

mic port, av out (presumably 3.5mm = rca), cam, standby button and BT?

I just bought my mk808b 2 weeks ago, the pace that these update is insane.

Up this to 2gb ram and have a 3.5 speaker/mic jack and it would be the cats ass.

Actually I have thought about making one.
My stick had mini hdmi female, So I was thinking of taking an adaptor and a project box to make a dock of sorts. Since I take mine to and from.

” tucked away behind the screen where the webcam would be of little to no use”
What’s in the box: 1 x HDMI Cable

A HDMI extension table is the answer to how to make it work for most( if not all) TVs. Isn’t that simple?

Do you work for KimCrap? I had to buy a powered hdmi to vga converter in order to get my MK808 to display on my TV, although a powered hmdi splitter probably would have worked as well.

Since these things are getting so cheap, why aren’t TV manufacturers either including a docking area or including them with the damn TVs?

  • strider_mt2k

Yeah, until you have to orient it correctly and make sure it stays in place.
It should come with a hunk of Velcro!

Because these devices have only just now started gaining some attention after hitting in July of 2012.
Give the segment a little more time to get some attention (and generate revenue) and I bet you’ll see it happen.

Starting to look like the perfect creepy “Spy device”. Now all it needs is an FM transmitter and we’re in business.
