Corsair introduces “world’s fastest” USB flash drive

Kingston may be showing off the highest-capacity USB flash drive you’ve ever seen this week, but Corsair claims to have the world’s fastest.

While Kingston’s new 512GB and 1TB drives top out at read speeds of 240MB/s and write speeds of 160MB/s, the new Corsair Voyager GT Turbo line of USB 3.0 flash drives have read speeds as high as 260MB/s and write speeds up to 235MB/s.

In other words, they can read and write data much more quickly than any hard drive you’ve probably ever used, and even more quickly than some solid state disks.

That kind of speed comes at a price: We’ve seen prices for USB storage devices fall quite a bit over the past few years. you can often pick up flash drives for around $0.60 or so per gigabyte. But the Voyager GT Turbo line of flash drives cost a bit more than that.

Corsair charges $50 for a 32GB flash drive, $90 for a 64GB stick, and $180 for a 128GB model.
