As expected, Microsoft is starting to offer the Surface RT tablet through new channels. UK retailer John Lewis is already taking orders for the tablet for £479 and up through its online store, and the company plans to start stocking the laptop in-store this weekend.

That £479 price covers the cost of a 32GB Surface RT tablet and a black Touch cover with a built-in keyboard.

For £559 you can also get a 64GB model. Or you can spend £399 and just order the tablet without a keyboard directly from Microsoft.

The difference is that John Lewis will let you see the Surface RT and tinker with it in a store before deciding whether to pull the trigger.

Microsoft’s Surface RT tablet features a 10.6 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel touchscreen display, an NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, and Windows RT software. It also comes with a version of Microsoft Office.
