It’s been less than a year since the Android TV sticks/mini computers hit the streets with 512MB of memory and ARM Cortex-A8 processors. Now you can pick up a model with a dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor and 2GB of RAM for about $70.

CNX-Software spotted a new device called the S21H which features a Rockchip RK3066 processor, 2GB of RAM, and 8GB of built-in storage.

It sells for about $70 on AliExpress (and if you use the coupon code “mainagame5” you can knock $5 off that price).

S21H

The S21H features 802.11b/g/n WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, a microSD card slot for extra storage, and a full-sized USB 2.0 port that you can use to connect a mouse, keyboard, or other peripherals.

There’s an HDMI connector on one end, which you can use to plug the stick directly into a TV or monitor so that you can run Android apps on a big screen. The device ships with Google Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean.

Developers have been working to port Ubuntu Linux to run on devices with RK3066 processors, so it’s possible you could eventually use the S21H as a cheap Linux computer as well — but I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for fully functional Linux graphics drivers.

  1. the specs of advertised “S21H Android 4.12 Pocket PC TV Box Media Player 2GB RAM 8GB Flash” are fake:

    CPU: RK 3066, Cortex-A9

    RAM: 2GB DDR3

    Flash: 8GB Nand Flash

    appeared to be :

    CPU: RK 3066, Cortex-A7

    RAM: 1GB DDR3

    Flash: 4GB Nand Flash

and those were things that made me to buy this stick.

the “dispute” with seller does not even work…

  2. I’ve got it – there is 1G of RAM, there is 2G of ROM as a matter a fact…. dissapointing

  3. That usb port dose not look “full sided” thats clearly a usb mini

  4. anybody got it already? no video of real time use is available, or I can’t find it :S
any deeper review video or review link? anyone?

p.s. sorry for double post.. :S

  6. How is the WiFi performance?

The one thing these Android sticks seem to have in common is miserable wireless performance, which is a joke since the whole thing hinges on it.

    1. λ/4=~3 cm — directional gain or loss
With a small embedded, geometry limited, easily blocked antenna,
      reception could be poor ?

      1. Well then we need to review our geometry!
The thing to do is put an external antenna on the thing, aesthetics be damned.

        1. Aesthetics don’t really matter since it’s probably plugged into the back of your TV… 😉

  7. Use it as a smart repeater/router — Anyone knows how ?
(I want to hook it up to a 1 watt usb cantenna)

  8. Odd this little device has 2 gig ram but few Android tablets do, if any.

    1. Because it is essentially a gimmick to bolster sales.
I don’t think you’d see much of a performance difference to be honest.

      1. It may be a gimmick in case of Android, but it is a real boon if you get a desktop Linux run on it.

That said, there are memory heavy programs even on Android which may profit from this. E.g. torrent clients (which are a natural part of a media center stick like this)

  9. 2GB of RAM I guess they ran out of there 1GB sets because RAM don’t cost a lot and 2GB is the Limit of this ARM CPU. That grate they put that much RAM in. I am sure it will speed it up even faster. Soon they will come out with a 4 core at 2GHz speed. I guess that will have 2GB of RAM as well.

  10. yet, another 70$ HDMI Android stick, with the same Rockchip RK3066 processor, dual core bla bla bla… and no real review on real life performance…

WHAT WE REALLY WANT IS UBUNTU HDMI STICK QUAD CORE, I will even pay $150-200 if it works flawlessly!!!

    1. At $150 -$200 these devices lose its appeal. For this price range you can get X86 compatible device that can run everything, in bigger size of course.

    2. Get an odroid U2, it has a quad core 1.7ghz and 2gb of ram on a popular Samsung SoC with native android and Ubuntu builds for $89. You’re welcome

      1. That sounds really great. I wonder why Chinese odms don’t pick this proc/soc up in bulk and slap a case onto it? Is odroid some sort of Samsung subsidiary?

  11. Nice but I think I will wait until a 2GB variant appears for an i.MX6 stick.

That is twice the processing power, fully Linux compatible and comes hw accelerated GStreamer codecs (heck, I wouldn’t dare dreaming about this with a Rockchip SOC).

    1. Is there any work being done on porting these to i.mx6 android stick GK802? HW accelerated linux + video codecs sounds too good to be true.

    2. There is the allwinner A31 cortex-7 processor that would do the job too. I think i’d prefer a little board instead of stick with a proper ethernet, etc.

  12. I have a 22″ touch screen monitor at home. I was thinking of getting one of these and plugging the USB cord from the monitor into it. Do you think it will natively support touch on the monitor? Does this support Google Play or would I have to side-load it?

    1. I’ve read about people trying to do that with other Android stick computers and it seems to come down to driver issues.
Your mileage may vary of course, but I encourage you to share your findings somewhere online regardless to help forward the concept, as it’s not farfetched at all to want this functionality.

  13. of course, I finally bought one after tons of research (mk808B) and a version with 2gb ram hits the streets for about $10 more.
