Gigabyte U2142 convertible Windows 8 tablet hits the FCC

Gigabyte’s latest 11.6 inch convertible tablet showed up at the FCC this week. That’s a pretty good indication the Gigabyte U2142 will go on sale in the US.

The computer opens up like a laptop, but it features an 11.6 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel touchscreen display which can fold down over the keyboard when you want to use the machine in tablet mode.

The Gigabyte U2142 has a pretty classic Windows tablet design, and it’s not quite as svelte as some of the newer tablets we’ve seen over the past few years. But it’s still a fairly small and portable device. The tablet weighs just 2.9 pounds.

Gigabyte will offer a range of different configuration options, including Core i3 or Core i5 processors, and up to 1.2TB of storage if you pick up a model with a 1 terabyte hard drive and 256GB solid state disk.

The convertible notebook features USB 3.0, HDMI, VGA, WiFi, and Bluetooth.
