Samsung Galaxy Camera launches in the UK this week

The Samsung Galaxy Camera is a point-and-shoot camera with a 21x zoom lens, a 16 megapixel sensor and a 4.8 inch touchscreen LCD. Oh yeah, it also runs Google Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, which means you can snap photos, upload them to Facebook, or even play games on the camera.

Samsung hasn’t announced a US launch date for the camera yet, but it’s expected to go on sale in the UK starting November 7th.

AT&T has also announced it will sell a 4G capable model in the US at some point. You won’t be able to make normal phone calls on the camera, but you’ll be able to use that 4G connection to surf the web on the go, or upload photos from nearly anywhere.

The Galaxy Camera is powered by a 1.4 GHz quad-core Samsung Exynos processor and has 8GB of built-in storage, plus a microSD card slot for extra storage.

Sure hope Sony get into this, as their Cybershot TX range could nicely double as a PDA ;)

AFAIK the limitations for why it can’t be used as a phone are all purely software based.
So I’ll give it less than a month before it’ll be capable at being used as a ordinary smartphone with a big camera
