The Asus VivoTab TF810C is a Windows 8 tablet with an 11.6 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel Super IPS+ display, an Intel Atom Z2760 Clover Trail processor, and an optional keyboard dock which doubles the computer’s battery life.

This model also features a Wacom active digitizer which lets you write or draw on the screen using a pressure-sensitive digital pen.

Excaliber PC is now shipping the VivoTab TF810C for $799 and up.

Update: Excaliber PC now says the tablet is up for pre-order.

Asus VivoTab TF810C

Equipped with 2GB of RAM and a 64GB solid state disk, this tablet is one of the more expensive Intel Atom powered tablets on the market. And that $799 price doesn’t even include the keyboard dock. You’ll have to pay nearly $200 more to get the docking station.

Asus says you should be able to get more than 10 hours of battery life from the tablet alone, and around 19 hours with the tablet and keyboard together.

The tablet features WiFi, Bluetooth, an 8MP rear camera and a 2MP front-facing camera.

Since the VivoTab TF810C has an x86 processor and runs the full Windows 8 operating system, it can handle most Windows apps including software written for Windows 7 and earlier. That’s something you can’t do on this tablet’s little brother, the $599 Asus VivoTab RT which has an NVIDIA Tegra 3 ARM-based processor and runs Windows RT.

But it’s still kind of tough to get over the $799 starting price, especially since soon you’ll be able to up a Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2 with an active digitizer, Windows 8, 2GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage for $649.

thanks Tom!

  1. I have a Vivotab and am quite pleased with it, although it was a bit on the pricey side. After using the Vivotab for a few months now, I don’t know if I could ever go back to a regular laptop simply because of the battery life. I usually use the Vivotab as a notebook with the keyboard dock, and the battery life is incredible. I don’t count the hours I get; I just know that battery life is no longer an issue. As long as the computer has half a charge, I have hours and hours of battery life left.

  2. A 64 GB SSD is pretty much useless. You will run out of space VERY quickly.

  3. Yeah, even with the digitiser stylus, gorrila glass and extra battery in dock (ativ doesnt have either of these as far as I am aware off) price is a tad too high. As compared to an Ipad the RT versions are priced on par or below, even if the price can be brought down, manufacturers wont because price shows that the product is on par with the #1 seller: Ipad. Which sucks for those of us who have a better idea of the machine than an avrg i-diot/casual consumer. All Ipad is doing atm, is pushing prices up of products that should have lower price, due to tech being so readily available it is no longer an issue of supply but an issue of competition. Demand and supply is there, but since the avrg user associates High prices of the Ipad as quality and rationalises the purchase, the rest of the tablets have to follow suit.
Android was pushing the price down, Amazon and nexus are very cheap. Since this is a full w8 tablet and a first gen release of the OS on tablets prices will remain high until the market embraces the tablets. Then ipad may not be an issue. Untill then we are stuck with slightly over priced tech.

  4. Lenovo thinkpad 2 doesn’t come in the same form factor (ie it’s keyboard doesn’t extend it’s battery life)..lynx does but probably has no digitiser

  5. shipping????? from where?! all i find is the RT version everywhere… not even an out of stock sign on them, they just dont exist in any online outlet and I have tried the top 6.

  6. Sold out already! Glad I was able to order mine plus an extra keyboard dock last night.

  7. All I can remember was how the Windows 8 tablets were going to blow away the iPad with lower prices. So much for that.

  8. Take a Transformer, swap the Tegra 3 for an Atom, Android for W8, lower the screen res/price and… multiply the price by 3.

    This is simply outrageous.
The Acer W510 will sell like hot cakes compared to this.

  9. Lenovo Thinkpad tablet 2 release date has now been pushed back to Dec 18th as per my chat with one of their sales reps. Plus there are two versions, one without digitizer and one with. One with, obviously being more expensive.

Plus the keyboard accessory is bluetooth based and doesn’t have extra battery in it.

Samsung ATIV Smart pc seems to have the best price-performance-compatibility- battery life combination. But Asus Vivo Tab TF810 looks worth it just for the mind blowing battery life.

  10. The Microsoft Store is showing the Lenovo at $699; where is it showing for $799?

  11. I was at the Asus Event (apparently so were you, Brad!) and liked what I saw. I don’t know, given that Surface Pro won’t be out for a while, people might pop for this. I’m waiting for the Transformerbook 13″ to hit stores to decide. That will be even more expensive since it has an iX CPU.

    1. Transformer Book pre-order was listed for $1500 before being pulled from excaliberpc.

  12. u can get the Samsung Ativ smart pc with digitzer and digitizer silo, 64GB SSD, 2 GB RAM, 11.6 inches, 10 hours of battery life for $649 and keyboard dock is 100 more

    1. The Asus gives you better build quality and an extra battery in the dock. Pros and cons for both.

        1. Asus has a metal body. Samsung some other non-metal material. Plus check out everything asus, especially their transformer series. Amazing.

        2. I have a Samsung Core i7 quad core, blu-ray notebook. The keyboard sux, and it keeps crashing and the USB 3.0 forgets devices attached to it. No updates from Samsung to fix these problems. Finally got fed up. Replaced with a Lenovo ThinkPad Edge, which has had no problems while doing the same tasks as with the Samsung.

    2. I have the Ativ and I love the tablet, but the dock doesn’t work. My buddy bought it the same day and his dock doesn’t work either. Read the reviews of the dock on Amazon, not good. I wish they would announce the release date for this so I could decide whether to wait and send the Ativ back.

      1. What do you mean by the dock doesn’t work?
Edit: Ok, I’m gonna check on Amazon.
        Thanks for the tip anyway.
