Asus VivoBook U38N passes the FCC on way to US launch

Asus hasn’t announced a US release date or price for the VivoBook U38N laptop yet. But if an FCC listing is anything to go by, the ultraportable notebook is coming soon.

The Asus VivoBook U38N looks like an ultrabook, but it technically doesn’t qualify since it has an AMD processor instead of an Intel chip. But as a 13.3 inch laptop that measures 0.7 inches thick and weighs 3.4 pounds, I suspect plenty of folks won’t care what it’s called.

The laptop has a 1920 x 1080 pixel IPS touchscreen display, 4GB of RAM, and a 500GB hard drive. It’s powered by an AMD A8 quad-core processor.

Around the sides you’ll find 3 USB 3.0 ports, a mini VGA port, and an HDMI port. The VivoBook U38N supports 802.11n WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0. It has Bang & Olufsen speakers.

Asus includes a built-in 48Whr battery for up to 5 hours of run time.

The Asus VivoBook U38N ships with Windows 8, and the user manual (which is posted on the FCC website) includes plenty of tips for using both the touchscreen and the touchpad to navigate Microsoft’s new operating system using multitouch gestures.
