AT&T MiFi Liberate wireless hotspot has a touchscreen for some reason

If you’ve ever looked at your mobile hotspot and thought “I like how this thing lets me connect to 3G and 4G networks on the go, but man it’d be even better if it had a touchscreen instead of buttons and LEDs,” apparently you’re not alone. AT&T has just introduced a new mobile hotspot with a touchscreen.

AT&T MiFi Liberate

The AT&T MiFi Liberate lets you share your 4G LTE internet connection with up to 10 devices over WiFi and offers up to 11 hours of battery life.

It has a 2.8 inch touchscreen which you can use to view data usage, connected devices, settings, and other details.

It’s a global-ready device, which means you can use the Liberate in over 200 different countries. There’s also a microSD card slot which you can use to share files with devices connected over WiFi or DLNA.

AT&T hasn’t announced the price or launch date fro the Liberate yet.

They added a really pointless touchscreen that will drain the battery needlessly and up the cost. Great innovation guys!
“view data usage, connected devices, settings, and other details”
Why not just have the phone, tablet, etc. that is connected to the hotspot display the information?

I can’t understand American carriers. why they want to sell a device which does nothing different from a phone.

Why not give liberty to users on how they use their data. Why Americans carriers? Why you guy’s are so sćrewed.
