Acer Iconia Tab A110 Android 4.1 tablet now shipping in UK (£180)

The Acer Iconia Tab A110 is a 7 inch tablet with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean software, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, and an NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor.

On paper it looks a lot like the Google Nexus 7, designed by Asus. But the Acer tablet has a few things that the Nexus 7 lacks… while the Asus model comes out on top in other areas.

You can’t find the Iconia Tab A110 in the US yet, but it’s now available for purchase in the UK for £179.98.

That’s about $290 US, but that price includes the value added tax. By comparison, the 8GB Google Nexus 7 sells for about £159 ($265 US) in the UK.

Acer’s tablet has HDMI output and a microSD card slot, neither of which are available on the Google/Asus tablet.

But the Iconia Tab A110 also has a 1024 x 600 pixel display, which feels very 2011. Most top tier 7 inch tablets released this year have 1280 x 800 pixel displays. Some even have higher resolution screens.

I really wanted one of these but then I looked at what I use these tablets for and I just decided to get a cheap nook color.
