The 10.1-inch Motorola Xoom, the first Honeycomb tablet, is now the second tablet to get the official Jelly Bean release. However, owners who want to keep their tablet hackable generally hold off on official updates in case they break rooting or lock up the bootloader.
Luckily for those users there’s now a way to get your Jelly Bean goodness. A user at XDA Developers (where else?) created a release package that maintains root. It doesn’t include any modifications or other features of a custom ROM, though.
This is good news for the fans of stock Android 4.1, which offers some nice tweaks to the look and feel of the operating system.
According to the XDA blog the install process is easy for those of you used to flashing custom ROMs. Just be sure to back up before you begin in case you have to factory reset the device.
