The Gigabyte X11 is one of the thinnest and lightest laptops around. The 11.6 inch ultrabook measures 0.65 inches thick and weighs just 2.1 pounds.

Gigabyte unveiled the X11 ultrabook in May, and now it looks like it’s almost ready to go on sale.

Ultrabook News spotted several retail listings for the Gigabyte X11 in Europe, where it will sell for between €1157 and €1314. The laptop is expected to be cheaper in the US, where it should sell for $999 to $1299 once it hits the streets.

The notebook is powered by an Intel Core i5 or Core i7 Ivy Bridge processor and features 4GB of RAM and a 128GB solid state disk. It has a 1366 x 768 pixel display, 1 USB 2.0 port, 1 USB 3.0 port, a mini DisplayPort, 802.11n WiFi, and a backlit keyboard.

  1. so, its slightly lighter weight than an Asus UX21A… but that alone doesn’t seem enough of a feature to charge effectively the same price without unibody and IPS 1080p display… not to mention that few average laptop buyers have ever heard of Gigabyte.

    1. Have you used a notebook with an 11.6″ 1080p screen? Doesn’t sound like a very good combination. You can raise the DPI setting in Windows so you don’t have to squint at small text but that usually breaks a lot of UI elements.

I do agree that being a mostly unknown brand (at least in the US) they won’t see very many buyers. Does anyone know if Gigabyte is a well known brand in Europe?

      1. They are “well known” for motherboards
Even 1600×900 is too much for a 11.6″ windows laptop. 1366 x 768 is just right.

        1. I’d agree that 1600×900 is too much for a 10.1″ screen, but from my own experience, my 11.6″ display could be sharper and offer more space for stuff, so I really would like 1600×900, its really just a few more pixels, not a huge difference… of course it also depends how good your vision is…

      2. I wasn’t suggesting they should duplicate Asus’ 1080p. I’m just saying they have no reason to charge as much, cause their Notebook is made more cheaply in regards to screen as well as case materials.

Its more about having an IPS display, and admittedly, I find my current 11.6 display with 1366 x 768 resolution wanting. I would not buy it without 1600×900 resolution anymore.

  2. What do you get when you cross a mba 11 and a samsung 9 whilst also going on a .3lb diet??

    1. depends how you cross them…

If you use the mba 11’s glossy screen, you have an indoor-only only consumer lappy.

if you use the samsung 9’s non-reflective screen, you can actually do work while on a train, plane, boat, whatever…
