Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon S4 APQ8064 chip is the company’s first quad-core processor. It’s not available in any consumer devices yet, but if you’re willing to pay a premium for a tablet aimed at developers, you can pick up a 10 inch tablet with the newest processor for $1299.
Yes, you could buy a couple of iPads or half a dozen Google Nexus 7 tablets for that price. But if you’re thinking that way, this tablet probably wasn’t for you anyway.
Instead, it’s aimed at developers that want to test their apps on the latest Qualcomm hardware before it’s widely available, or hardware makers that want to see how the reference tablet functions.
The Mobile Development Platform tablet features a 1.5 GHz S4 Pro APQ8064 processor, Adreno 320 graphics, 2GB of RAM, and 32GB of storage. It has a 10.1 inch WXGA (1366 x 768 pixel) display.
The Android 4.0 tablet has a microSDHC card slot, a micro USB port, and a connector for an HDMI or USB cable.
It also has a 2MP front-facing camera, a 13MP rear camera, fingerprint reader, surround sound speakers, and 7 mics for ultrasound, among other things. Did I mention this was a developer tablet?
