Acer Iconia Tab A700 hi-def tablet now selling for $450

The Acer Iconia Tab A700 is an Android 4.0 tablet with a 10.1 inch, 1920 x 1200 pixel display, an NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor, and a starting price of $449.99 for a model with 32GB of storage.

A few retailers started taking pre-orders earlier this month, but now the official Acer Store has the Iconia Tab A700 in stock.

That makes this tablet the first Android tablet to ship with a display resolution this high — although the Asus Transformer Prime Infinity is expected to ship any day now, and that tablet will have the same screen resolution.

Acer’s tablet has 1GB of RAM, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, GPS, a 1MP front-facing camera, and a 5MP rear camera.

The Iconia Tab A700 has a micro USB port, micro HDMI port, and headset jack, and the tablet measures 10.2″ x 6.9″ x 0.43″ and weighs just under 1.5 pounds.

Acer offers black and silver models of the tablet.

Amazon, J&R, and other retailers should have the tablet in stock in a few days.

So what does this mean for the pricing of the similar spec’ed A510, but without the HD display? They’ve been selling that for $450 too, but if they mean to keep selling the A700 for that price, then the A510′s going to have to be at least $50 less than that.

This would bring the A510 into line with the Asus T300 (with better battery life as a bonus), and the A700 pricing also puts downward pressure on the HD Transformer when it finally gets here. I was unimpressed by the A510 being priced at $450, but that appears to be about change.
