If you look closely enough, you’ll probably find a new Android tablet at the FCC website nearly every day.* Today’s edition: The Hena MID-1107CM.

I”m not familiar with this company — and the website mentioned in the user manual doesn’t seem to exist. But the tablet looks like it could be a solid entry in the low cost Android tablet space. The only thing that gives me pause is the estimated battery life… and the fact that I’ve never heard of Hena before.

Hena MID-1107CM

The tablet features a 10.1 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel display with a capacitive touchscreen and a 1 GHz Boxchip A10 ARM Cortex-A8 processor. It runs Google Android 4.0 software, has 1GB of RAM, and supports 4GB to 16GB of storage.

The MID-1107CM also has a microSDHC card slot, 802.11n WiFi, a mini HDMI port, USB 2.0 port, a mic and a front-facing VGA camera.

It’s said to support 1080p HD video playback, but unfortunately battery life tops out at 3.5 hours when watching a 1080p video. You should get up to 4.5 hours of battery life while surfing the web, or 13 hours while listening to music with the screen turned off.

That’s less about half the battery life you can expect from other inexpensive tablets such as the Kindle Fire or NOOK Tablet. But I have a feeling the Hena tablet could be even cheaper than those $200 devices if and when it goes on sale in the US. Although it has a larger screen than either device, the MID-1107CM has a slower processor and less brand recognition.

You can find out a bit more about the Taiwanese company at the Hena Digital website — but there’s no mention of this tablet at that site yet.

*Actually, I found four different Android tablets at the FCC website today. This was the most interesting. The Xplore iX104C5 rugged Windows 7 tablet also made a stop at the FCC today.

  1.  I think I saw one of these on Deal Extreme, or at least it had the same case.
There are *tonnes* of Boxchip/Allwinner A10 tablets coming out right now and they’re all cheap and of reasonably good design. China has finally caught on how to make a decent tablet that people may actually buy.
