Zenithink releases Android 4.0 for most of its tablets

Chinese tablet maker Zenithink is making Google Android 4.0 available for most of the company’s recent 7 and 10 inch tablets. That includes the Zenithink C71 which gained a bit of attention recently when developer Aaron Seigo announced that it would be the basis of the new Spark tablet with KDE Plasma Active Linux software.

Zenithink C71 with Android 4.0

While the Spark will come with its Linux-based software preloaded when the open source tablet ships in May, you can already buy a Zenithink C71 for as little as $126. For that price you’ll get a model with Android 2.3 Gingerbread, but you can download and install Android 4.0 from Zenithink or build your own Spark Tablet by installing the Mer Linux distribution and KDE Plasma Active software environment.

As you could probably guess from the $126 price tag, the Zenithink C71 isn’t exactly a top-of-the-line tablet. It has a 7 inch, 800 x 480 pixel display and a 1 GHz Amlogic 8726-M ARM Cortex-A9 processor, 512MB of RAM, and 4GB of storage.

The company also makes a C72 tablet with a 7 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel display as well as several 10 inch tablets.
