Want to make sure you have the latest features and bug fixes for Android 4.0 for the HP TouchPad? Now there are unofficial nightly builds of CyanogenMod 9 Alpha available.
Update 3/27/2012: Now there are also official nightlies available.Â
The nightlies are basically what you get when you take CyanogenMod 9 Alpha 6 for the TouchPad and synchronize it with the main development branch of CM9 for all devices so that the TouchPad version gets all the latest updates.
As the name suggests, a new version is released every night — but you don’t necessarily have to install a new build every single night. Most of the time there won’t be any world-changing new features.
The project comes from the folks at Teamwin, who have created a Twitter account which pushes alerts and download links every time a new build is available. You can also browse through the latest builds at a download page.
While these are unofficial builds, Cyanogenmod developer Erik Hardesty (Dalingrin) recommends using them for now, since he doesn’t expect to push out many new alpha versions of CyanogenMod 9 for the TouchPad anytime soon.
We may still see some official alpha or beta updates if major features such as video playback or camera support are added to CM9 for the HP TouchPad. In the meantime, you may want to keep an eye on the Twitter feed for alerts about other changes.
You can also view the latest changes to the main branch of CyanogenMod and the HP TouchPad branch at the project pages.
You can install the latest builds without losing your existing data and settings. Just download the latest zip file to your tablet, reboot into ClockworkMod, and choose the option to apply update from a zip and choose the file you downloaded.
For more detailed instructions, follow our step-by-step guide for using ClockworkMod Recovery to update from one version of CyanogenMod to another.
If this is your first time installing CyanogenMod or any custom ROM on your HP TouchPad, we’ve got a tutorial for that too.

how do you get android games on a HP tablet
for some reason my email won’t sync after its configured….I think everything else is working OK…
I’m having trouble with the “Play Store” to update my apps. When I try to open it, it just flashes and returns back to the desktop. I’ve just downloaded last night’s build and it’s still happening.
reinstall gapps
Any body else having Wi-Fi problems with nightly builds???
ugh… same problem.. upgraded to Alpha 2 and now can’t get wireless to work…
Is there a document that is included to show what changes these nightly builds made?  I loaded the 3/19 nightly and it appears to be the same as the Alpha 2. Perhaps it had better PMIC management?Â
There aren’t a lot of changes yet, but the nightlies include the latest changes merged from the main CM9 development team. You can find a list here:

I updated my touchpad without errors, however, Â has the headphone issue been fixed. Â I still have no sound when using headphones.
Gina, My sound was working good with Alph 2 loaded.  I loaded a nightly from 3/19 to see if it had camera or mic support. No luck.Â
With alpha 2 installed, is it still recommended to download the nightly builds?
Cool, thanks man
