MSI introduces U180 Cedar Trail netbook, looks like the last 6 MSI netbooks

MSI is launching its first netbook to feature an Intel Atom Cedar Trail processor. We first spotted the MSI Wind U180 in January, but this week the company officially announced the 10 inch mini-laptop.

The Wind U180 doesn’t look very different than MSI’s last half dozen or so netbooks. The company was actually one of the first to introduce a 10 inch netbook with an Intel Atom N270 processor way back in 2008 and while recent models are a little thinner and lighter than the original Wind U100, the overall look hasn’t changed much.

Most of the changes are under the hood, where the new model will be available with a choice of a 1.6 GHz Intel Atom N2600 processor or a faster 1.86 GHz Atom N2800 chip. The Wind U180 supports up to 2GB of RAM and has will be available with a 250GB or 320GB hard drive and a 3 or 6 cell battery.

The netbook has a 1024 x 600 pixel display, 2 USB 2.0 ports, and an HDMI port as well as 802.11n WiFi and Bluetooth 3.0. It runs Windows 7 Starter Edition.

*same outlook” …… well why changing an ergonomically winning design.
finally a company who got the message and changes what has to be changed .. under the hood and does not mess around every half year with a good overall design.

I’ve seen a lot of N2600/N2800 netbooks announced: The ASUS X101CH, 1025C, and 1025CE; the Acer AOD270; the Lenovo S110; the Toshiba NB510; the HP Mini 1104, Mini 110, and Mini 210; and now the MSI U180.  What I haven’t seen yet is any of these netbooks for sale…hopefully these next-generation netbooks will be in stores soon.

The Acer is on sale and already sold out on Amazon.
