Acer is introducing three new ultrabooks, the Aspire S5 with a 13.3 inch display, and two Acer Timeline Ultra notebooks with 14 and 15 inch displays and optical disc drives.

The Aspire S5 measures 0.59 inches thick, features an Intel Core i-series processor and solid state disk. It has the usual ultrabook features including quick boot, quick resume from sleep, and “Smart Connect” technology which lets you download email, social network updates and other information even when the laptop is slipping.

The notebook has Dolby Home Theater v4 sound, and what Acer calls a “MagicFlip” panel behind screen hinge which hides the HDMI, USB 3.0, and Thunderbolt ports.

Acer says the S5 should be available in the second quarter of 2012.

The Timeline Ultra line features larger thin and light laptops with 14 and 15 inch displays. Both models have optical disc drives and a choice of solid state disks or hard drives and up to 8 hours of battery life. Despite the disc drives, the Ultra notebooks measure just 0.79 iches thick.

Timeline Ultra notebooks should be available in the first quarter of the year.

Acer’s new ultrabooks join the company’s existing Acer Aspire S3 ultrabook line, which means Acer will offer four different ultrabook models in the first half of 2012.

  1. “which lets you download email, social network updates and other information even when the laptop is slipping.”

That last word is a most excellent typo.

  2. Who’s the retard showing the laptop? Another Steve Job rip-off?
