HP to sell refurbished TouchPads for $99 and up Sunday 12/11/2011

HP has announced that it will offers dirt cheap HP TouchPad tablets again on December 11th. But it’s a limited-time offer and there are a few catches.
- The tablets will be refurbished tablets.
- TouchPads are limited to two per customer.
- All sales are final.
- There is only a 90 day warranty.
The HP TouchPad tablets will be available at HP’s eBay store starting at 6:00PM Central Time on Sunday, December 11th. Both 16GB and 32GB models will be available in limited quantities. You’ll need to pay using PayPal.
While the HP TouchPad didn’t sell very well when the company launched the tablet this summer for $499 and up, the 9.7 inch tablet has become pretty popular since HP canceled the product and dropped prices to just $99 for a 16GB tablet and $149 for a 32GB model.
The TouchPad has a 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon dual core processor, 1GB of RAM, and a 1024 x 768 pixel display. It ships with webOS 3.0 software, but the tablet has proven popular with tweakers who have installed an alpha version of Google Android on the TouchPad.
Android for the TouchPad is still a work in progress, but the tablet feels more responsive when running Android than webOS, and there are hundreds of thousands of third party apps available for Android, compared with closer to 10,000 apps for webOS.
In addition to $99 and $149 tablets, HP will be offering an optional 3-piece accessory bundle this weekend with a case, charging dock and wireless keyboard for $79.
