Lenovo has introduced a new mini-desktop that the company calls the world’s smallest desktop computer. The Lenovo IdeaCentre Q180 is pretty small, measuring just 7.6″ x 6.1″ x 0.86″, but it’s certainly not the smallest desktop PC… not by a long shot.
You don’t even have to look at minuscule computers like the Trim Slice, Raspberry Pi to find smaller PCs. The new Lenovo IdeaCentre Q180 isn’t even as small as the Lenovo IdeaCentra Q150 I reviewed last year. That model measures 6.8″ x 6″ x 0.8″.
Marketing blunders aside, the new IdeaCentre Q180 looks like an interesting little machine if you’re looking for something small and low-power. It might make a good living room PC for some users.
The base model sells for $369 and features a 2.13 GHz Intel Atom D2700 processor, AMD Radeon HD 6450A graphics, 2GB of DDR3 memory, a 500GB hard drive, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, and Bluetooth. It has HDMI output, an 8-in-1 flash card reader, and runs Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.
For $429 you can get a model with 4GB of RAM and a DVD burner.
Speaking of small PCs, I suspect the Zotac Via Nano may be released in December. I see one on Ebay for a good price:

zotac has no operating system and no hard drive. Â Meanwhile Lenova has got the q180 on sale for 309 – with both. Â
At first the price seemed steep for an Atom based computer, but I guess it’s fairly standard. The form-factor looks decent though.
