Earlier this year MSI introduced a notebook with a 12.1 inch display and AMD E-350 Fusion processor. Now the company is giving the MSI Wind U270 a minor spc bump adn offering the same laptop with a faster AMD E-450 chip.
The new model showed up at a French retail site this week, where it’s available for pre-order for 390 Euros, or about $555 US. The price would likely be lower in the US, but the laptop has yet to go on sale in the US, with an AMD E-350 or E-450 processor.
AMD introduced the new 1.65 GHz AMD E-450 dual processor last month. It has a TDP of 18W, just like the older E-350, but it offers faster CPU and graphics performance and also supports Turbo Core technology which is designed to boost both performance and battery life. It does this by underclocking one processor core and overclocking another on certain tasks where single-core performance is more important than dual-core.
The MSI Wind U270 has a 1366 x 768 pixel display, 2GB of DDR3 1333 MHz RAM, a 320GB hard drive, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, and Bluetooth 2.1. It has 2 USB 2.0 ports, a USB 3.0 port, HDMI and VGA output, and an Ethernet jack. The laptop has a 6 cell battery and weighs 2.9 pounds.
