Toshiba has pushed out a software update for the Toshiba Thrive Android tablet. It’s designed to fix a bug that caused problems for many users when they tried to press the power button to resume from sleep mode.

You should be able to download and install the update by visiting the Service Station app from your Thrive tablet.

When I reviewed the Toshiba Thrive recently I didn’t even bother mentioning the sleep/resume bug because honestly, I hadn’t noticed any problems with the tablet the company sent me to test. But Monday I was getting ready to box it up and send it back to Toshiba and wouldn’t you know it — I pressed the power button so I could turn on the device and use factory reset option to wipe my personal data and nothing happened. I couldn’t get the tablet to wake up without removing the battery, replacing it, and performing a cold boot.

I don’t have the tablet handy at the moment so I can’t confirm that the new update does what it’s supposed to, but Toshiba says the new software should resolve the issue and also enhance the tablet’s multimedia capabilities.
