The ZiiLabs ZMS-20 is a dual core, 1.5 GHz ARM Cortex-A9 chip. The company introduced the new chip and a reference tablet designed called the Jaguar recently, and Charbax from ARMdevices.net got a chance to check out a couple of demo units at the Computex trade show last week.
The tablets are each running Google Android 3.0 Honeycomb, and ZiiLabs is showing off the multimedia capabilities of its new chips in a variety of ways. In the video after the break you can see:
- A tablet playing 1080p HD video
- Applying real-time digital effects to video from the camera
The chip has 48 separate cores which can handle graphics, but which also support OpenCL applications.
ZiiLabs also introduced the ZMS-40 chip with 4 ARM Cortex-A9 cores recently, but the company was only showing the dual core version at Computex.
Tablets based on the newest chips should be available starting in September.
