Disney launched a comic book app for iOS, we learned how to mount an Android device’s SD card on a PC or Mac without unmounting it from your mobile device, and we rounded up every good place to download Android apps we could think of. We’ve been busy little bees at Mobiputing this week. Here are some of the highlights:

  • 18 places to download Android apps
The Android Market is a great place to find and download apps if you have a phone or table that supports it — or if your favorite apps haven’t been booted from the Market. But it’s not the only game in town. Here are 18 alternative app stores for Android.
  • Disney launches comic book app for iOS
It’s not as cool as the Marvel or DC comics apps, and doesn’t feature nearly as many titles, but the Disney Comics app for iOS is currently the best way to find free and paid Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck comics on your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad.
  • We’re giving out 500 beta invites for BOLT Browser for Android
Bitstream is porting its classic BOLT web browser from BlackBerry and Windows Mobile to Android. It’s still a work in progress, but if you want to check it out before the rest of the kids on your block, hit up Mobiputing for an invitation to join the private beta.
  • OnLive

  • OnLive to bring console gaming to Android, iOS later this year
Mobile tablets with touchscreen displays and decent graphics chips are surprisingly useful gaming machines. You know what makes an even better gaming machine? A Playstation 3 or Xbox 360 with a dedicated gamepad. OnLive is bringing that exact experience to your mobile device by streaming games over the internet. There’s even a wireless game controller on the way.
  • YouMail now adds Visual Voicemail to jailbroken iPhones
YouMail is a visual voicemail app which can transcribe your messages for you. The official iOS app works alongside Apple’s phone features on the iPhone. But if you have a jailbroken iPhone you can now grab a new build from Cydia which actually integrates directly with the iPhone dialer. It also supports carrier unlocked devices.
  • How to dual mount an SD card on your Android phone or tablet and a PC
Seriously Google, why is this so hard? If you want to copy data to your phone or tablet’s SD card over a USB connection you have to unmount your card from your device and mount it to your computer which means you can’t run mobile apps or listen to music while you’re copying data. Dual Mount SD Widget is a 99 cent app that lets you do that. You’ll need to have a rooted device though.
