The Archos 101 is a 10 inch tablet with a capacitive touchscreen display which ships with Google Android. But Archose also offers a “Special Developer Edition” firmware package for the tablet which lets you run Angstrom Linux instead… you just have to agree to void your warranty to use it. But if you’d prefer to use a more mainstream Linux distributions, it looks like there are ways to do that as well.

There’s a custom version of Debian Linux designed to work on the Archos Gen8 line of tabelts including the 10 inch Archos 101. Debian for Archos uses the light weight xfce4 desktop environment and supports touch input. There’s an virtual keyboard for entering text as well.

The developers have also added power management features allowing the tablet to last for 30 or more hours while in “sleep” mode.

You can check out a video of Debian running on the Archos 101 after the break, courtesy of YouTube users Mader2302.
