E Ink produces the black and white digital paper screens found in the Amazon Kindle and most other eBook readers. The company has also been developing color ePaper displays and other technologies for a while. But that’s not the only thing the company is working on. The Digital Reader has posted a series of videos showing flexible E Ink displays.

The first video shows a display that’s been printed for use on cloth, which would allow you to wear it on a shirt or other piece of clothing. The technology is limited at the moment and isn’t designed for flexible eBook readers, but it could make it possible to display advertisements or other material in a flashing display on shirts.

The second video shows an E Ink screen on Tyvek cloth which is what some shipping envelopes are made of. It’s more durable than paper but more rigid than clothing. I could imagine re-usable envelopes using this sort of technology, allowing you to enter the address and then send your parcel off into the world. Something tells me that disposable envelopes will continue to be cheaper for the foreseeable future though.

  1. I think that is totally cool. I wonder how many will look and realize that the t-shirt’s image is changing. 🙂

  2. I can’t wait to buy a T-shirt on which I could display any image or video !
