The Asus Eee Pad Transformer isn’t the only tablet with a removable keyboard hitting the streets this month. The Acer Iconia Tab W500 has a similar design, but instead of running Google Android the Iconia Tab W500 sports Windows 7 Home Premium.

The tablet is now available from B&H for $549 plus free shipping, but B&H is closed for Passover at the moment. Several other stores have it in stock or are taking pre-orders for the tablet and expect to have it in stock by next week.

The Acer Iconia Tab W500 features a 10.1 inch, 1280 x 800 pixel display, a 1 GHz AMD C-50 dual core processor, Radeon HD 6250 graphics, 2GB of DDR3 memory and a 32GB solid state disk. It has 802.11b/g/n WiFi and Bluetooth, 2 USB 2.0 ports, an HDMI port, Ethernet jack, and front and rear cameras.

The tablet also comes with a detachable keyboard allowing you to use the computer as a laptop.

  1. “It’s overpriced.” “It needs a digitizer.” That’s pretty much all you need to know about the public these days. I want $150 component added to the unit… and I want to pay LESS for the hardware. Wow.

  3. I access everything very easily except for resizing windows. You simply hold down to Right Click and drop-down menus, etc are easy to select. I was having a problem clicking pause in VLC because it was on the bottom and the taskbar kept coming up but I just moved the controls up a bit and that was it.
