Coby Kyros MID7024 1 GHz Android tablet now available for $169

The Coby Kyros MID7024 is a 7 inch tablet with a 1 GHz Samsung S5PV210 ARM Cortex-A8 processor. It runs Google Android 2.2, and it would look like a pretty good tablet option if it weren’t for the low resolution 800 x 480 pixel resistive touchscreen display. Still, for $168.50, good luck finding a better option — because that’s how much the tablet is selling for on Amazon today.

The MID7024 supports 802.11b/g WiFi, comes with 4GB of storage, an SDHC card slot, and has HDMI and USB ports. Coby says it can handle 1080p HD video playback. The tablet has a built-in mic and speakers as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack. It has a 2000mAh battery.

The tablet measures 4.75″ x 7.68″ x 0.53″ and weighs 0.87 pounds.

I disagree with #1. It’s useful to learn how decent hardware is showing up at more reasonable prices. The resistive touchscreen of this device is a negative, but the overall package is attractive. Not all of us can afford to drop $500 on a WiFi tablet.

The CPU is Galaxy Tab equivalent. This platform has seen 4 months of beta testing via shanzhai channels in the form of the Aishuo A815 and A816 already. I am expecting this to be a mature device launch for the most part.

It says way better than the Augen Gentouch 78. It seems like a very reasonable price for what one gets. I would definitely consider getting one.

I agree, not every one wants to spend $500 for a tablet; especially if one does not plan to use it a lot.

Looks nice, now add capacitive with stylus option, 3/4G and better battery life and Im buying it! Oh and sunlight readable pixel qi or equivalent LCD please :D!
Ok, Im asking too much, but I think not too far away are we from days when such tablets will come standart with what I mentioned and will cost way below 200$. They shouldnt cost more anyway.

I still think the prior 7015/7015A are better choices for now until this one and it’s quick replacements as we all know that COBY International and COBYUSA don’t really do much of patches and OS updates. Just release new hardware. Right now 8024, 8025, 8026 and the soon to be released 8125 All 3 are the same except the 8024 has OS 2.2 while the others have OS 2.3. Cost the same only $10 bucks more for the 8″ over this model your reviewing.
