Lenovo ThinkPad X120e to start shipping March 8th

The ThinkPad X120e is a new business class ultraportable laptop from Lenovo. It features an 11.6 inch display, a low power AMD processor, and Radeon HD graphics. Lenovo introduced the laptop at CES, and now the company is confirming that it will go on sale starting February 15th… or maybe March 8th.

That’s the good news. The bad news is that at launch it won’t be available in Western Europe, Japan, Australia, or Latin America. Basically if you live in a country where the Lenovo ThinkPad Edge 11 is available, you won’t be able to pick up a ThinkPad X120e for now.

Lenovo says the X120e will run $400 and up. You’ll be able to configure the Lenovo ThinkPad X120e with up an AMD E-350 dual core processor, and up to Windows 7 Professional. The laptop comes standard with a 6 cell, 7.5 hour battery and an 11.6 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel anti-glare display. Like other ThinkPad models, the X120e also comes with a TrackPoint system which includes a multitouch touchpad and a pointing device in the middle of the keyboard.

Update: CNET reports that the US launch date has been pushed back to March 8th. Lenovo confirmed the change via Twitter, but then removed that tweet. And my contact at Lenovo says the laptop is still scheduled to ship on February 15th. I guess we’ll know for certain next week.

Update 2: It’s official. The Lenovo ThinkPad X120e will go on sale on March 8th in the US.

I thought “yes!” then I read the update and thought “NOOO!” PS – thanks for making the database searchable by screen resolution. :) I have a T61 and this will make an EXCELLENT companion.

Looks like Lenovo removed the offending tweet, so it’s still possible it *could* ship next week.

Will it have 3 cell and SSD options?

  • Anonymous

Configuration is customizable, so you should be able to order it with the load out you want. The image above is what it’ll look like with a 3 cell, as the 6 cell sticks out the back. Mind you the reviewed run times were done with the 6 cell. So expect only a few hours with the 3 cell…

Interesting, I’m just going to wait for tuesday and see.

Rubbish – Lenovo are trying to palm off their old rubbish on Europe. Guess I’d better get see what HP are doing…

HP got their DM1z out right after CES and yet it’s taking longer for other companies like Lenovo. Lenovo claimed they have the cheapest fusion laptop at $399 but you get single core, 1gig ram, 3 cell….lol…that is specs from 3 years when netbooks came out. Upgrade the specs, you’re going to spend more than Hp DM1z. What a marketing scheme.

It is said that in western Europe x120e won’t be sold untill they sell old edge, however in eastern sale should start normally. Tell me then, where is middle europe, like Poland…? When can we expect it on sale?

Lenovo should be lucky that HP made their analog with glare screen (which I hate) so people do not have much choise.
