The Asus Eee Slate EP121 is a 12.1 inch Windows tablet, and it’s the first of four tablets Asus introduced at CES this year to go on sale. Now it’s also the first to begin shipping. While you’ve been able to pre-order the tablet from Amazon since January 5th, the retailer now has it in stock, and according to my Amazon Affiliate records, at least three Liliputing readers have placed orders which have now shipped.

The Eee Slate EP121 has a 1280 x 800 pixel capacitive touchscreen display with an eletromagnetic panel and stylus for precise input. It’s powered by a dual core Intel i5-U470um processor and supports 2GB or 4GB of DDR3 memory. The tablet is available with 32GB or 64GB solid state disks, and supports 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0 and has a 2MP webcam.

There are 2 USB 2.- ports, a mic and headphone combo jack, a mini HDMI port, and a flash card reader. The tablet has a 34Whr battery which Asus says should be good for 2.4 to 4.5 hours of run time. The EP121 measures 12.3″ x 8.2″ 0.7″  and weighs 2.6 pounds. The tablet also comes with a Bluetooth keyboard and a carrying case.

You can order the 32GB model for $999 from Amazon. The 64GB model is currently out of stock, but it goes for $1099.

If you’re looking for more details, Notebook Italia noticed that the official product page for the EP121 is now live at Asus.com.

Update: I’ve received confirmation from Asus that the EP121 has started shipping. Amazon sold out of its initial stock and more units are on the way.

  1. Gotta hate these techos who think they are so cool to hassle the noobs. ANy serious tablet user with experience knows it is more than battery life its the overall experience. Multitasking and compatability across the platforms. Wanna watch movies and drive the apple content for $$$ machine then go for it.

  2. so far from all currently available tablets this one has the best processor all other tablets are weak or they are non windows based. recently I saw HP tablet and the experience was horrible compared to Asus. Even with higher price there are people out there who can afford this and they will buy this tablet because it the best windows available tablet at the moment.
ps. I have been trying to buy this tablet for a month now, it seems that this product is out of stock!!!!

  3. Obviously the previous commenters and I have very different uses in mind for a table device. This is the perfect product for me and I can’t wait to get it.

(oh, and it has an SD slot, read the specs)

  4. you people are fucking CRAZY, this shit is over $1000 USD, WTF… way too expensive, and you give a rating close to 5?? shit noobs.

    1. Totally agreed. And furthermore a shit battery life and so little storage – where’s the SD/micro SD slot? …. Garbage for a grand! World intelligence is growing, but the number of stupid people is increasing rapidly too!
