Way back in July Palm’s Jon Rubinstein indicated that HP was planning on building a variety of devices around the webOS operating system, including phones, tablets, and netbooks. But while we’ve heard a fair bit about tablets, there hasn’t been much information about HP and Palm’s plans for the netbook space… until now. OK, arguably there’s still not much info, but the folks at PreCentral noticed a few mentions of webOS netbooks at an HP training site for wireless carriers.

Here’s what we know. HP plans to eventually offer webOS on phones, slates, and netbooks. And really, that’s about all we know. It’s likely that HP will unveil its first webOS tablet at an event in February. While it’s possible that we could also find out more about netbook plans at that point, I’m not holding my breath. My guess is that netbooks are on the company’s long-term agenda, much like webOS-powered printers.
