Toshiba plans to launch a 10 inch tablet running Google Android 3.0 Honeycomb later this year. While it’s not fully baked yet, the company started showing off an early prototype this week with an earlier version of Android. I got a chance to check it out last night, and the build quality seems good and I especially like the textured, rubberized casing on the back which makes the tablet easy to grip with one hand.

The device has an NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual core processor and a 1280 x 800 pixel capacitive touchscreen display. There’s a 5 megapixel camera on the back and a 2MP camera on the front. The tablet weighs about 1.7 pounds.

You can find more photos and a brief hands-on video after the break.
