Last year at CES ASUS showed off a futuristic concept called Waveface, that basically consisted of screens you could interact with throughout your life — including wrist computers, personal tablets, and devices hanging on your wall. This year the company is continuing to promote that vision, with something called IRIS, or “Inspirational Research for Immersive Space.”
Asus showed off a video at CES which explored the concept of a single device that could be used in the home, as a wearable computer, a reading tablet, and a work computer.
The whole thing is awfully science fiction-like, with some sort of expandable/flexible display technology that doesn’t currently exist and probably never will. But it’s boundary-pushing ideas like this that may inform the decisions made by device makers tomorrow.
Asus put a few (obviously) non-working concepts under a glass display at its CES booth. You can see a few photos below.
