Asus is set to unveil a new line of tablet computers next week at CES. The company teased us with a video of the 12.1 inch EP121 a few days ago, followed by a few close-up photos of various tablets. But the company also did something a little sneaky — a day after uploading the teaser video for the company’s new Eee Pad Ep121, Asus uploaded a second version of the video with chalk drawings of four tablets toward the end.

As we already knew, the EP121 will be a tablet with a large display and an (optional?) keyboard docking station. The company is also set to launch a line of smaller tablets, and now we have a few names.

The Eee Pad EP102 appears to have a slide-out keyboard. The video features a brief animation of the machine transforming from a slate into a machine with a screen and a physical keyboard.

The EP101, on the other hand, appears to have a detachable keyboard, much like the larger EP121. If Asus is sticking with its usual naming conventions, the EP10x models will have 10 inch displays.

The EP71 doesn’t appear to have any sort of keyboard, but unlike the others it has a stylus, which would seem to indicate that this model could have a resistive display, an active digitizer, or one of those newfangled capacitive displays with support for a stylus (or maybe just a special capacitive stylus). It will probably have a 7 inch screen.

Update: It looks like the updated video has been removed.  You can check out the original video after the break.

  1. Hurry ASUS, “Apple prepares three versions of iPad 2 for 2011”.
You don’t want to be left holding the goods while Apple runs over the competition, again. Timing is key in this industry and the 800lbs. gorilla is breathing down your neck.

  2. I’d really like to see all the specs of the EP121 if it is what I am thinking it is then I don’t think it is worth the purported 1K they are going to charge.
At this price I am hoping for dedicated graphics that are at least able to outperform the AMD brazos IGP and Nvidia ION because Core i5 and capacitive touch don’t add up to a $1k laptop in my book. I am hoping it is not the Broadcom Crystal HD that has plagued all others.

    1. Probably it is going to be an underpowered dual-core atom. I just picked up a Hanvon B10 with a Core 2 Solo – it is absolutely amazing, shame they aren’t readily available here.

      1. The Core i5 was confirmed I am just waiting on the GFX before I set my mind on it, it advertises gaming so I am hoping it is a little beyond the ION2 at the very least. So far the Acer AMD tablet is looking like a win if the price is at ipad levels. I am actually on the 1215n at the moment I do graphic design work, a little 3d modeling HD Netflix, and a little gaming without too much problem.

  3. Wonder if they got a discount for shanzai’ing the HTC You campaign from the same agency? 😉

Plus it looks like the video changed back…

  4. Heh. I love Asus. I do though, find this a bit comical. It’s like throwing up a bunch of noodles onto a wall and hoping that some of them stick. I’m not saying that everyone doesn’t want a tablet, but I’m sure a lot of them are looking for a fancy ereader. Afterall, a lot of people own laptops and netbooks and smartphones. All these Eee Pads are combo’s of them all. It’s a great plan for Asus, but the question is who out there has the appetite for what they are serving up?

  5. Brads your an idiot sometimes last time I checked there wasn’t two different tablets named the EP102
