The Apple iPad has a surprisingly decent on-screen keyboard, but if you prefer typing on a physical keyboard, there’s no shortage of protective cases for the iPad with built-in keyboards.

The folks at Shanzai.com managed to get their hands on two different models, one which connects over Bluetooth and another which connects to the iPad using the docking port.

Both cases prop up the iPad so it looks like a laptop — at least when it’s placed on a desk or tabletop. Of course, neither will actually turn the iPad into a full-fledged notebook, since the iPad is still a tablet which is primarily designed for touchscreen input — and you’re going to need to reach up from the keyboard to tap on the screen to perform most actions. But the keyboard cases do let you launch some applications, adjust the volume or brightness, and of course, get some serious writing done.

You can check out Shanzai.com’s hands-on video after the break.
