OK, I get it. Some folks may decide to pick up a tablet instead of a netbook or laptop, because both are mobile devices that let you surf the web on the go… but ViewSonic’s new program that lets you trade in your existing netbook or laptop to select retail partners for up to £125 (about $200 US) cash back when you “upgrade” to a ViewPad tablet is just… weird.
It seems strange to suggest that either the Android-toting ViewPad 7 or the ViewPad 10 which runs Windows 7 is an “upgrade,” from a tablet. It’s just a different type of device that’s designed for different use scenarios.
That said, if you were already planning on tossing an old laptop and you happen to be hankering for one of those newfangled ViewSonic tablets, it looks like you can get £100 back when you send in your old laptop after purchasing a ViewPad 7 or £125 back when you buy a ViewPad 10. If you couldn’t tell by the currency, the program is only available in the UK… mainland UK at that. You can find all the terms and conditions at the trade-in site.
