LG Android tablet coming early next year?

  • Email

That Windows 7 tablet from LG that passed through the FCC this week not doing it for you? It looks like LG’s first Google Android powered tablet could launch in the first quarter of 2011.

Sure, plenty of other companies are already bringing out Android tablets, like, now. But LG reportedly wants to wait until Google updates the platform to be more tablet-friendly. According to MK News, the LG Pad will run Google Android Honeycomb, which is the version due out after the soon-to-be-launched Google Android Gingerbread.

The tablet may also have an 8.9 inch display and a dual core NVIDIA Tegra 2 chip, much like the Toshiba AC100 smartbook, Toshiba Folio 100 tablet, and Notion Ink Adam tablet. Of course, by the time LG gets around to releasing its Android tablet, NVIDIA may have released a new version of its Tegra chip, making Tegra 2 look like old hat.So much for LG’s goal of producing an Android tablet with “superior performance” and “many firsts.”

Maybe LG is working with Nvidia and will use the Tegra 3 chip on his device.

Make no sense that Nvidia work alone in Tegra, because always the rest of developments will be so last week.
