Archos has pushed out an update for the new Archos Gen8 tablets. That includes the Archos 28, Archos 32, Archos 43, Archos 70, and Archos 101. Some of those tablets haven’t even been released in the US yet.
The update from Android 2.1 to Android 2.2 brings a faster JIT compiler which should improve the performance of third party apps. You can also install some apps to the SD card, and apps that require Android 2.2 to run should now play well with the Archos tablets.
The firmware update also adds support for Bluetooth GPS receivers, faster USB transfers, and more accurate battery charge estimates.
One of the biggest changes is that after upgrading to Android 2.2, the tablets should be able to run Adobe Flash Player 10.1. Unfortunately the plugin isn’t available for the Archos tablets yet, because Archos is still waiting on certification from Adobe. A more detailed list of updates is available in the changelog.
If you already have an Archos tablet running Android 2.1 you should be prompted to download the update soon, but if you don’t feel like waiting you can grab the update from the Archos support page.

I am trying to install gApps4Archis2.apk, no luck, the version I download from this site installs but can’t install Google Apps because it say it is only for Eclair. This is on Archos 10.1 running Froyo 2.2.1Firmware 2.0.54. Any ideas?
Here, install gApps4Archos2.apk for full Google Marketplace on this Froyo firmware, includes everything, also just get Adobe Flash in the Marketplace, takes 1 minute: https://forum.archosfans.com/viewtopic.php?f=63&t=42067
It seems Archos wrote and released another Market patch for Android 2.2.
Flash can be added by just downloading and installing the Flash 10.1 .apk file.
The community created Archos Google Market installer though needs to be updated for Froyo. So unless you know how to manually install it, instructions can be found on the forum, then just wait for the installer to be updated and get it from the Archos Fan Forum…
Recommend doing a system reset when updating to avoid any upgrade issues.
