ViewSonic’s Viewpad 100 (or Viewpad 10, depending on who you ask), has been getting a bit of attention because it’s one of the first tablet PCs slated to ship with dual boot operating systems, allowing you to run both Windows 7 and Google Android 1.6. But the folks at Netbook News have uncovered a bit of evidence suggesting that the tablet could have another distinguishing feature: A dual core Intel Atom N550 processor.

At least two UK-based retailers are taking pre-orders for the tablet, and both say the ViewPad 10 will have an Atom N550 chip insead of the Atom N455 single core processor we’d previously heard it would have.

On the other hand, those sites also say the CPU will have a clock speed of 1.66GHz, which is the right speed for the Atom N455, but the wrong speed for the Atom N550 — which has twin 1.5GHz cores. So there’s a decent chance that the product listings are simply wrong. Anyway, I’d take them with a grain of salt… and maybe a dash of wishful thinking.
