Sure, it already made the rounds a bit this morning, but now Toshiba has officially unveiled its 10 inch Android tablet, known as the Toshiba Folio 100. The tablet is expected to launch in the fourth quarter of 2010 for 399 Euros, which is about $510 US.

As expected, the Folio 100 will ship with the Google Android 2.2 operating system, a 10.1 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel capacitive touchscreen display and an NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor. It has 16GB of internal storage, HDMI output, a 1.3MP camera, USB, WiFi, and Bluetooth capabilities and a 3G model will be released in early 2011.

The tablet measures 0.6 inches thick and weighs about 1.7 pounds.

Wow, they’re finally coming, they’re finally coming! Tablets that are worth owning!… Dual Core A9 should rock… Now hopefully Google gets it’s Dalvik VM unencumbered, or gets some licensing done with Oracle so we can have more professional studios working on Android games and… And… Well it will be nice.

That said, I know it’s cheaper to make it that way, but why does everyone have a 16:9 screen? I know it’s supposedly better for media but for anything else it seems like 4:3 1024×768 would be better… Oh well. I’m just glad quality non-iPad tablets are dropping finally.

The name is very similar to Palm’s Foleo. I wonder if there will be any conflict if and when HP-Palm comes out with a newer version of the Foleo.
