Say hello to the little Saycool 5 inch Windows tablet

  • Email

The Saycool M5A is a tiny tablet computer with a 5 inch touchscreen display, an Intel Atom z515 CPU running Windows 7. Saycool is based in Shenzhen, China, but the tablet showed up at the FCC this week, which is a decent indication that someone is at least thinking about importing the device to sell in the US.

The M5A has an 800 x 480 pixel display, plus a few buttons and an optical mouse for navigating Windows. The device supports 802.11b/g/ WiFi and Bluetooth 2.0 and has a 0.3MP camera, SD card slot, 1GB of DDR2 memory, 2 USB ports, and support for 8GB to 32GB of storage space.

Just in case you weren’t clear on just how pocketable this little guy is, at 6.3″ x 3.7″ x 0.9″ the 12.3 ounce tablet is a bit chunky for a smartphone… but just a bit. I actually managed to stuff the WiiPad Slim Plus 7 inch tablet in my pocket yesterday, which makes me think there’s plenty of room for the Saycool M5A in the right pair of pants.

There’s no word on pricing or availability yet.

The WiiPad sounds like some adult protection device. :) (just kidding).

Perhaps it is a smart phone on steroids? If it is priced lower than most smart phones, it would sell well; IMO. If it can make phone calls too, it might be worth it – depending on the price.

I do not understand the need to have Win7 on such a small device. There are better os’s out there for tablets; IMO.
